Sean Singletary headed to Spain
It appears that the greatest point guard in UVa history is headed to Spain. Sean Singletary has signed a contract with a pro team, and will be spending the next year playing in the ACB and Euroleague leagues, according to Streaking The Lawn.
I’m a fan of the Philadelphia 76ers, and I was deeply disappointed when they cut Sean loose last month. I really believe Singletary is going to find a home in the NBA, but it’s starting to look like he’s going to have to take the Roger Mason route to success (i.e., the winding road).
Singletary is my favorite Hoo since Jason Williford, so I’m definitely rooting for him to make it.

John Crotty and Jeff Jones (the original) beg to differ.
I’d buy “most honored” or “most decorated,” but I’ll take a pass on “greatest” when applied to Sean.

I think Curtis Staples is the only one who can beg to differ. Sean and Curtis have the only two retired jersey, meaning in Virginia’s eyes, these two are the greatest guards in UVA history.

Oh, I love Crotty and Jones, but I don’t think there’s any question that Singletary is the greatest player UVa has ever had at point guard. Don’t hold Sean responsible for the fact that his teammates weren’t as good as Jones or Crotty had.
As for Staples, I loved the guy. He came in when I was a student at The University. Not a point guard, so he doesn’t come into the Singletary discussion, but he was an outstanding Hoo.
